Sonny is a very special boy, with Anmenta on both sides of his pedigree. Son of our brindle boy Zulu and a grandson of Ace, he is a handsome fawn boy.

We actually wanted a girl out of this litter but Sonny was a standout and we had to have him, particularly as Ace was getting older and he could show the new boy the ropes. They soon became great mates and Sonny would follow Ace’s every move.

He is obsessed with toys and carrying things around in his mouth. He has to greet everyone with some sort of prize in his mouth be it a ball, a toy, or his latest favourite, picking his own 4.5 kg pumpkin and carrying it around for a while before eating it! He’s a bit OCD playing with his toys for ages and not letting you have them, but gives in and shares them eventually.

Sonny is our fruit picker. He helps himself to lemons, oranges and mandarins and eats them, but his personal favourite is limes! He loves them and won’t go for a run in the paddock unless he can take one with him. He’s also quite the swimmer always wanting to be in the pool whether we are in there or not. He’ll just stand at the gate and look at you like “let me in, I wanna swim” and don’t forget the pool toys.

He’s a wonderful natured dog, gets on with everyone and is a great babysitter for the young puppies, showing such patience and tolerance for them. He also loves all our nieces and nephews and curls up on the lounge with them getting as many pats as possible.

Sonny became the patriarch of our pack after Ace’s passing and helped us heal from that huge loss. He is an absolute delight to live with, so easygoing and well mannered, nothing fazes him. He just wants pats and toys and food, he does love his food! We are very blessed to have him as part of our family.
